Federal/College regulations requires Richard Bland College to monitor the SAP/Academic progress towards completing a program of study. For this reason, your SAP/Academic Progress is calculated at the end of each term to verify that you have met all federal/College standards. If you have failed to meet the standards and feel you have mitigating circumstances, you may complete this appeal form and provide substantiating documentation in order to be reconsidered for reinstatement. If your appeal is approved by the Committee, you will be required to submit an Educational Plan for Success with your Learner Mentor
The Academic Appeal Committee must be able to confirm your extenuating circumstances based on the documentation that you provide from an objective third party (physician, counselor, social worker, teacher, religious leader, obituary notice of immediate family member, divorce decree, etc.).
Third Party Documentation must:
• Be submitted on official stationary with appropriate signatures
• Verify that the extenuating circumstance(s) occurred during the time frame
referenced in your appeal
• Verify that the extenuating circumstance(s) will no longer influence your academic
progress
